Research work

Prof. Li has extensive experiences in the designed growth of large-area inorganic 2D functional materials including transition metal dichalcogenides.  His main research focus was to explore the applications of these low-dimensional materials in ultra-scaled and low-energy-consuming nanodevices. He has owned more than 40 US patents and more than 15 Taiwanese patents. He is a highly cited scholar (2018-2023) with publication matrix: citation >61000,  h-index 114.

Industrial experiences:

Prof. Li has gained valuable industrial working experience that benefits his research, particularly in low-dimensional material. He has extensive experience working in the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), starting first as a Process Engineer in 1997 and then promoted to Senior R&D Engineer in 1999 until 2002. TSMC is the most advanced semiconductor company in the world.

He joined TSMC again in 2017 as the Director of Corporate Research until 2020. Prior to this, he worked as the Chief Technology Officer of Nitronix Nanotechnology, Taiwan, in 2015- 2017.  Apart from his industry appointments, Dr. Li also served as a Board Advisory Consultant of the Nitronix International Holdings and Advanced Material Co., Ltd. in 2018-2020.
