Biographical details

My research interests are Neuromorphic Computing, Non-volatile Memories, Ferroelectric devices, Nanomagnetism and Spintronics and different emerging solid state electronic devices for next generation of computing and adaptive sensing. I did my Ph. D. from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in 2006 working on fundamental physics of complex oxide materials down to deep cryogenic temperatures. As a post-doctoral fellow in Åbo Akademi University and University of Turku in Finland, my research interest diversified to application of thin film oxide materials in hybrid spintronic components. I worked as a visiting scientist in Dr. J. S. Moodera’s group in Francis Bitter Magnet Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA in 2010 and 2011, working on magnetic tunnel junctions. In Aalto University, Finland , I have further diversified my research activities on ferroelectric tunnel junction based memristors and their application as electronic synapses and neurons in neuromorphic computing. In VTT, my research portfolio further diversified to include development 2D semiconductor based memory and logic components and ALD grown Hafnia based memory devices for energy-efficient hardware for neuromorphic computing.

I have so far worked as Managing Committee member from Finland for different European COST Action initiatives and act as principal investigator and work package leader in different national, European and NSF-Academy of Finland joint projects on development of cutting-edge technologies for beyond CMOS computing era. Currently, I share a joint affiliation as Visiting Professor at the NCKU Miin Wu School of Computing in Taiwan.
